Dozens of Russian-speaking Israelis demonstrated against what is widely considered to be a campaign of hate towards religious Israelis on the part of Lieberman and his Yisrael Beiteinu (Israel Our Home) party. The rally is clearly meant to distinguish the protestors from Lieberman, who is also a Russian speaker and draws much of his support from Russian immigrants who made aliyah to Israel after l989, a population that numbers more than 700,000. The protesters carried signs that read "I speak Russian and keep Shabbat -- and there are many more like me" and "stop anti-Semitism."
