The Knesset Finance Committee called on Tuesday for an extension of regulations it approved for compensating workers and businesses during the escalation period in the south and the Gaza area.

Committee Chairman Moshe Gafni said that "Against the backdrop of the escalation, and in the current state of escalation in the south, one of two things should happen: either we continue to pass a wording of the regulations, or apply section 38, in my opinion, section 38 is preferable. The tax authority is in favor of this, and it remains only for the Justice Department to agree. We call for approval of this as soon as possible, in order to allow residents and business owners in the [Gaza] envelope and south to continue to function under the current reality."
