Attorney Nati Ram expressed outrage at the detention of former Knesset member Yehuda Glick for walking slowly on the Temple Mount. Ram, who regularly represents those arrested or detained for their presence on the Temple Mount, registered his dismay with such violations of basic human rights that regularly occur on this holiest of Jewish sites. Even as Muslims, Christians, and tourists enjoy easy access to the Temple Mount, and Arab children even play soccer there, it's a different story when it comes to Jews who want to pray. However, since it is unacceptable for the police to arrest Jews for praying on the Temple Mount, other charges such as "interfering with an officer" or "disturbing the peace" are brought against Jews. "When I speak about this state of affairs outisde of Israel," attorney Ram said, "no one can believe this is happening. Here, we need to shout that the status quo is unacceptable, illegal, and violates our basic human rights."
