Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert asked President Reuven Rivlin last week to delete his criminal record, according to Haaretz.

Olmert's lawyers cited, among other things, his contribution to the state, especially in the years he served as prime minister. Expunging the criminal record also removes the crime of moral turpitude designation that blocks convicts from running for office for seven years. Olmert recently expressed a desire to return to political life, but his associates are convinced that he will not do so even if the president agrees to the request.
