The Health Ministry has announced that a calf infected with rabies from a jackal bite has been discovered in a barn of Kibbutz Senir in the Upper Galilee.
While an immediate investigation has led to people who were exposed to the calf getting preventative treatment, the ministry is asking people who may have come in contact with the calf or stray animals in the area during the first half of February to urgently contact the Tzfat health office (04) 6994257 or 6994200 regarding the need for treatment. If after hours, people should contact a hospital emergency room. The same holds for parents regarding children who may have been exposed.
