The offices of the Defense Ministry, the Finance Ministry, and the Israel Land Authority have signed a supplemental agreement to an agreement that was signed a number of years ago regarding removal and transfer of army bases from the center of the country.

The new agreement sets out a schedule for involvement of IDF personnel on specific dates. The new agreement includes completion of closing and then moving the Kirya army headquarters out of Tel Aviv. In its place the 'Keren HaKirya' project will see the construction of one 80-story office tower, one 50-story office tower, and two 45-story residential towers, adding 770 housing units to Tel Aviv's limited supply, on thirty-eight dunams (nine acres) of prime real estate. In total, approximately ten thousand dunams of IDF bases will be closed in the center of the country. New bases in the north and south will be built to replace them.
