Education Minister Rafi Peretz informed Professor Vered Noam of Tel Aviv University on Monday that she will be awarded the Israel Prize in Talmudic Studies.
Writing on Twitter, Rabbi Peretz said, "Her work, her research, and her work in making Talmud studies accessible to many populations have been a breakthrough. Prof. Noam is an inspiration for a whole generation of women studying Torah in Midrashim and academia." He concluded, "For the first time, a woman has won in the category of Talmudic study."
