The father of the terrorist who carried out the October 2018 shooting attack in Samaria's Barkan industrial area and murdered Kim Levengrond-Yechezkel and Ziv Hajbi was convicted Sunday in the Samaria Military Court on the relatively minor charge of not preventing possession of a firearm and acquitted of failure to prevent an attack.
The judge ruled that the father of the terrorist knew about his son's weapon, but did not know of his intentions to carry out an attack. Attorney Haim Bleicher of the Honenu organization, representing the families of the victim, attacked the court's decision, noting that the terrorist's mother "claimed that she had reported to the father about the son's intentions, thereby trying to relieve her responsibility for the attack and receive a reduced sentence."
