The Histadrut Hamorim teachers' union and the national parents' leadership have established a joint task force and have demanded the freezing of an amendment to the Special Education Law, according to Galei Tzahal radio.
The teachers and the parents, acting together for the first time, claim the state is trying to cut the number of students sent to special education by 30 percent and to mainstream thousands of special-ed students without their receiving the budgetary and other support to which they are entitled. They say this will adversely affect mainstream students as well as the special-ed students.
