The Movement for Governance and Democracy has filed a complaint with with Justice Ombudsman Uri Shoham against former Central Elections Committee chairman Hanan Melcer, in light of a recording published on Galei Tzahal's "Hamilah Haacharonah" (The Last Word) program from a conference at Bar Ilan University, where Justice Melcer praised the activities of Attorney Shahar Ben Meir, who was a key player in petitions to the Supreme Court and the 22nd Knesset Election Committee against organizations nd parties from the right.
The recording implied that the petitions filed by Ben Meir were ordered by Judge Melcer himself. Finally, he stressed that Ben Meir deserved applause. According to the complaint, Justice Melcer's conduct violates the judges' rules of ethics and harms public trust in the judiciary.
