President Reuven Rivlin decided on Monday to commute approxmately four months of the prison sentence given to businessman Nochi Dankner for securities fraud to a suspended sentence, which will be added to the suspended sentence he has already received.
The decision will allow Dankner to appear before the parole board soon, rather than appearing as scheduled at the beginning of May. It was taken in light of Dankner’s current medical situation. These circumstances were not brought before the court at the time of sentencing and, according to medical advice, have worsened significantly during his time in prison and require urgent medical intervention. Dankner’s request for his criminal record to be deleted was rejected.
