The Institute for National Security Studies is mourning the passing of senior research fellow Emily Landau, head of the institute's Arms Control and Regional Security Program at the age of 59. Doctor Landau's funeral is scheduled for 11:00 am at the Kfar Nahman cemetery in Raanana.
Emily was a central part of INSS activity over more than three decades. She appeared frequently in the media and many professional gatherings on nuclear proliferation, dynamics in the Middle East; Israel's nuclear image and policy; the Iranian and North Korean nuclear challenges; weapons of mass destruction challenges and developments in global arms control thinking, particularly in the nuclear realm. Her vast academic and analytical research over the years earned her international renown, and was a major contribution to experts in Israel and throughout the world, particularly in the arms control community.
