President Reuven Rivlin vowed to work towards the release of Naama Issachar, an American-Israeli woman serving a seven-year sentence in Russia for marijuana possession, saying he would raise the issue in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I won't make an promises that I cannot keep, and I know what I can and cannot do," Rivlin said at the Yediot Aharonot conference in Jerusalem Monday. "But I can promise that every time I meet the Russian president, Naama will be kept on the agenda in our talks."
