Transportation Minister Bezalel Smotrich responded to the taxi drivers who protested outside his home on Thursday night.
"So a handful of taxi drivers have screamed and cursed right in front of my house, in a continuation of the hundreds of ugly messages and threats I have received over the past few days. Friends, you probably don't know me. I respect your democratic right to protest (I even came out to talk to you), but you won't move me with curses and threats," tweeted Smotrich, adding, "I am doing what is good for the citizens of Israel, lowering the cost of living, and putting in order an industry that so far everyone has been afraid of dealing with – much like other branches that are strong in party central committees and which threaten politicians. The reform has created simple, transparent, and decent tariffs that will allow taxi drivers to earn a living without exploiting the public.”
