Officials in the Likud say that Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein intends to use his veto power to prevent a vote in the Knesset on the immunity of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Reshet Bet radio reported on Thursday morning.
According to the report, the Likud and Netanyahu prefer that the vote on immunity not take place in the current Knesset, since there is no majority to grant the immunity to the prime minister, and as such they would prefer that the vote be passed to the next Knesset, hoping that the right-wing bloc will succeed in achieving 61 seats. It is for this reason, according to Likud officials, that Edelstein intends to prevent the vote in this Knesset.
The Knesset Speaker's office said in response, "Bullying will not succeed - the Knesset is not a market and will not be a platform for the election campaign of Blue and White or any other party."
