Minister Yariv Levin responded on Thursday morning to the statement by Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor Liberman that he would oppose granting immunity to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
"I was not surprised. Liberman has set for himself the goal of bringing down Netanyahu at almost all costs," Levin said in an interview with Army Radio, adding, "Netanyahu deliberated quite a bit about the immunity. In the end, because there is a fear that if the request was not submitted, he would have been prevented from running for prime minister, it was decided to apply for immunity at this stage."
