The Foreign Ministry has issued caution recommendations to South Africa travelers, stating that "in South Africa a high level of crime is common. Violent crimes are also targeted at tourists, among other things. Most of the crime is centered on poverty-stricken towns and areas with many people, including shopping centers, especially in the evenings and dusk."
