Dozens of events are taking place across Israel and around the world to mark the end of the seven-and-a-half-year cycle of reading a daily two-sided page of the Babylonian Talmud, also known as the Oral Law and Shas.
Monday night's schedule includes a gathering of the Sephardic haredi-religious Shas Party at Jerusalem's Arena indoor sports and event facility with the participation of dozens of rabbis and public figures before an audience of more than ten thousand participants. The venue will host a similar event on Thursday for supporters of the Hasidic and Lithuanian United Torah Judaism faction. Thursday will also see a parallel event at the Binyanei Hauma Jerusalem Convention Center.
