A new monument commemorating the victims of the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City, who fell in 5708 (1947-48), was dedicated Sunday evening.
The monument states the name of each of the fallen. The design of each name was carried out in a metal cylinder that resembles a still flare, and in the center of the monument stands a flare of memory. The memorial was erected where the fallen were buried in a mass grave, including a 9-and-a-half-year-old boy, from the fall of the quarter in '48 until the liberation of the Old City in '67, when their remains were taken to a mass grave on the Mount of Olives.
