President Reuven Rivlin and German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier will attend events in Israel, Poland and Germany next month to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
On January 22nd and 23rd, President Steinmeier will visit Israel at the invitation of President Rivlin and give a speech at the Fifth World Holocaust Forum at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial institution. Four days later, President Rivlin, President Steinmeier and other heads of state will attend a remembrance ceremony in Auschwitz to mark the anniversary. The two presidents will then travel together to Berlin, where they will give memorial speeches in the German parliament at the main event on January 29th in remembrance of the victims of National Socialism and take part in a discussion on Holocaust remembrance at an international youth meeting.
