The Blue and White Party has decided to start putting pressure on Chairman Amir Peretz of the Labor-Gesher Party to unite with the Meretz Party for the upcoming Knesset elections, according to the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation.
Sources involved in the talks said senior Blue and White member Yair Lapid was the one talking to Labor members about unifying left-wing parties. Peretz feels the parties could obtain more seats in a separate run than a joint run, but would consider a joint run if polls present a different picture near the closing date for submission of candidate lists..
