The IDF released a statement regarding its recent cyber exercise writing:
"Today (Wednesday), the third surprise exercise conducted by the Chief of the General Staff concluded. The purpose of the exercise was to examine IDF operations and actions during a significant cyber-attack and in case of a shutdown of main information systems.
The exercise was conducted in all main headquarters of the IDF and the forces participating in it practiced handling cyber events and malfunctions in command and control systems used by the IDF. As part of the exercise, hundreds of main systems were shut down for learning purposes including situation rooms, command and control systems, and senior offices.
Planning, management of the exercise and operational implementation in real time was carried out by a small team of technological and operational experts from the J6 & Cyber Defense Directorate."
Head of the Joint Cyber Defense Division, Brig. Gen. D:
"The exercise is a significant part of the IDF's concept of cyber defense and enables the development and learning of defense entities in dealing with a inter-branch cyber event."
