Outgoing State Prosecutor Shai Nitzan says, in an interview with Yisrael Hayom, which will be published in full on Friday, that "it bothers me that the public's trust in us has been compromised."
Nitzan said, "I agree that trust in us has dropped, but for a very specific reason, which I know. We are investigating and prosecuting people with a great deal of media power and influence, who attack us on a daily basis. The incessant blows and attacks cause cracks in and break the level of trust." Regarding leaks from investigations, he said he had no control over the police and that the culture of his office was against them although they are not investigated as crimes.
