President Reuven Rivlin rejected, Tuesday, the idea of turning the Israel Defense Forces into a professional army in some of the logistics and technology arenas.
Asked about the possibility during a planning gathering at the Tel Nof Air Force Base, Rivlin said, "We serve our people because if we do not serve, who will serve?" He concluded, "In our security situation, we must not lose the IDF as a people's army."
