The Women of the Wall organization wrote on Facebook, Monday, "At Israel's official Hanukkah candle-lighting, women are expected to be seen (and just barely) but unheard - still in 2019! The ceremony takes place annually at the Main Plaza of the Western Wall, where Yom HaZikaron (Memorial Day) and other national holidays are marked as well."
The post noted, "Women were invited to appear at two other official lightings, both to be held on rooftops overlooking the Western Wall, completely distant from public view." It concluded, "There is no justification in Halakha (Jewish Law) for this blatant exclusion. We will not settle for meager concessions in place of our rights. Can Israel really say women are treated as full citizens when these "separate but equal" (i.e, inherently unequal) conditions persist?"
