Member of Knesset Yaakov Asher (United Torah Judaism) has asked the Interior and Finance Ministries to refuse to approve the raising of property taxes in cities where budgets are being used for what he called "populist moves for PR purposes such as public transportation on Shabbat," which most residents do not need.
Citing poverty statistics, MK Asher said, "Municipal resources should not be a 'cash cow' which local leaders can do with as they please. Raising property taxes in cities where there is a complete distortion of priorities is an unacceptable scandal."
