Attorney Vadim Klyobgent, who is representing Naama Issachar, an Israeli convicted to more than seven years in prison for marijuana found in her possession at a Moscow airport while in transit, told Channel 13 News on Monday, "Our position is that, in terms of Russian criminal law, there was in fact no offense - Naama is not guilty of anything. It has nothing to do with drug smuggling and she is not a drug addict. Therefore, there is no basement for punishment in her case and all the more so, the punishment she received is disproportionate."

The lawyer added, "There are quite a few criminal moves that have been made and may lead to the voiding of evidence collected in Naama's case, so for us, the judgment given in her case was null and void."
