Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with his Portuguese counterpart, Prime Minister António Costa, and Portugal's Foreign Minister, Augusto Santos Silva, in the Sao Bento palace in Lisbon on Thursday evening.

The leaders discussed strengthening the cooperation between their countries in the areas of, among others, economics, innovation, cyber, science and water, and agreed on the exchange of delegations in these areas. The leaders also agreed on cooperation in Africa.

Netanyahu congratulated the Portuguese prime minister on becoming the latest country to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism.

Netanyahu also called on Portugal to join the US position in intensifying pressure on Iran.
