Sha'arei Tzedek Medical Center reacted with astonishment and sorrow to the death of 19-year-old Tamar Fenigstein, who volunteered for National Service in the Women's Department of Sha'arei Tzedek, and was killed last night by the light rail in Jerusalem.

Shaare Zedek Medical Center head Prof. Ofer Marin said: "On behalf of the family of employees and volunteers of Shaare Zedek we send condolences to the Fenigstein family. Tamar lit up everyone she met and cared for and she will be greatly missed by the staff and patients in the women's ward. With the catastrophe, professional teams at Shaarei Zedek provide support and care to all the National Service girls and we will continue to accompany them as needed."

Volunteer Service and National Service Director at Shaare Zedek Ayelet Cohen said: "Tamar was a smiling and happy girl who it was already easy to connect with her at the first meeting. Tamar was ready for any assignment and loved the Service and personal connection to the patients. This is a great loss for us and an unimaginable tragedy. We convened all Service girls and gave them all the support to overcome Tamar's death together."
