Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will take off on Wednesday for a political visit to Lisbon, during which he is expected to meet with United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Portuguese officials.

Netanyahu and Pompeo will discuss increasing pressure on the regime in Iran, which has repeatedly violated the 2015 nuclear agreement in recent months and received no response from the powers except the US, which is exacerbating sanctions on the Tehran government. Netanyahu initially planned to discuss the matter with Pompeo and German and French leaders at the NATO conference that opened Wednesday in London, but the trip was canceled due to security considerations.
