The rabbis and rabbinical court judges of the Belz hasidic movement called on Thursday morning for people to recite the Vaanenu insertion in the Shema Koleinu prayer during the silent reading of the Amidah standing prayer because rains have stopped.
In a letter published in the hasidic publication Hamahane Haharedi, the rabbis read that "since the beginning of the new month of Kislev has come and the heavens have stopped saturating the earth with blessings of rain, we must wake up from our deep sleep and cry out to the Holy One, blessed be He to open his good treasury for us."
