Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi has threatened a crisis if Israel decides to apply sovereignty in the Jordan Valley.

Speaking at a meeting of Arab League counterparts in Egypt, Al-Safadi said, "Israel will eliminate any chance of peace if it continues its annexation steps in the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea." Regarding the recent United States announcement that settlements are not inconsistent with international law, he said, "We emphasize that nothing will change the fact that the settlements are illegal."
