The Jerusalem Finance Committee approved, Monday, the budget for renovating the house of Rabbi Avraham Yitzhak Kook, the first Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of British Mandatory Palestine in the Land of Israel and the founder of the Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva

The renovation has been delayed for more than two years. Under the decision, the municipality, together with the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage, will allocate a unique budget for the renovation and preservation of the balconies in the rabbi's house. Last year, the municipality issued a closure order to the balconies after they were identified as being in danger of collapse. The half-million-shekel project is set to begin immediately.
