The municipality of the haredi-religious city of Beitar Illit, in cooperation with its Business Forum is presenting a haredi version of the Black Friday shopping day, which includes a week of promotions and discounts at stores across the city as Beitar Days.
The goal of the initiative is to strengthen the local businesses by persuading residents to make their purchases in Beitar Illit. Hundreds of business owners are offering discounts across a variety of areas and a large selection of products. To create a "happening" atmosphere, the city has printed tens of thousands of balloons, flags, ads and stickers with the promotional logo which are decorating city streets, shopping malls. They are also being distributed free of charge to participating business owners. A fancy booklet was also produced and distributed in the tens of thousands of copies. Borrowing a line regarding special observance of Jewish laws, the Business Forum says, "all those who lower prices - it's praiseworthy and successful."
