President Reuven Rivlin has told the Belonging public-policy conference of the AKIM Israel organization for people with intellectual disabilities and their families and Inclusion International, " Now that there is more of a conversation about this issue, and civil society organizations are working hard to advance it, the private sector and government bodies must also join the process of change and ensure the rights and the place of people with disabilities."
Noting achievements already made in the field, Rivlin added, "We must aim for greater integration in the work place, and find a fit for the needs and abilities of workers in the changing job market. We need to propose legislation and lead systemic change with the aim of ensuring the quality of life of people with disabilities in Israel. Their dreams, desires and aspirations are the same as anyone else’s.”
