Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely responded on Monday evening to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's statement that the US no longer considers Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria to be contrary to international law.
"Thank you to our friend, the United States, who chose to stand alongside historical and legal truth and lead a significant change regarding Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria. The Israeli Foreign Ministry is fighting for the recognition of our natural right as Jews to live in our ancestral land."
"For the past four years, we have led in the Foreign Minister a process of historical change in relation to the settlement enterprise, and the US announcement tonight is proof that adherence to the principles and rights of the Jewish people will lead to international recognition. It started with Jerusalem, continued with the Golan Heights, and now, after many years of false Palestinian propaganda about ‘occupation’, the recognition of settlements as legal under international law has arrived as well," said Hotovely.
