The United Nations Security Council will convene this Wednesday to discuss recent developments in the Middle East, including the statement on Monday by United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that Jewish communities beyond the 1949 Armistice Line are not inconsistent with international law.
Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon said, “Our right to the Land of Israel is grounded not only in a historical claim, but also in the ideas of justice under international law. We welcome the US government’s announcement and I call upon my ambassadorial colleagues to review US’ decision without prejudice and adopt its legal basis.”
