The Hungarian government signed a special agreement on Monday with the EMIH Orthodox Jewish Communities Association, under which the Orthodox Jewish community received special status and special official recognition by the state, for the first time since World War II.
In doing so, a decades-long injustice was corrected during which only the Neolog (Reform) movement in Hungary enjoyed official institutional recognition and money from government budgets.
