Former chief justice Aharon Barak expressed support for Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit on Thursday at the Haifa Law Conference.
Asked what he thought about Mandelblit's handling of the corruption investigations against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Barak - a former attorney general - said, "He does not want the attorney general's position to be damaged on his watch, so I believe his considerations are relate to the merits of the case." Attacking demonstrations against Mandleblit, Barak said, "Everyone exercised their constitutional right to demonstrate, but it was a mistake to do so and it is a mistake to continue and I urge all the people of Israel that when the decision of the attorney general is made, please stand behind him."
