A navy missile boat spotted a Russian submarine about eight nautical miles (about 15 kilometers) off the coast of the Dan region around Tel Aviv about three months ago, according to Yediot Ahronot.
Upon identification of the submarine, Israeli officers spoke with their Russian counterparts, activating the naval coordination mechanism through the General Staff Planning Division. The submarine finally left, sailing west into the Mediterranean Sea. The IDF did not respond to Yediot's question whether there was any damage to state security and did not specify how long the Russian submarine stayed there.
