The Knesset will discuss for the first time the Kurdish situation in northern Syria since the invasion by Turkey at the initiative of MK Zvi Hauser (Blue and White).
The urgent proposal states that "as a nation-state of an ethnic minority in the Middle East, the Knesset is obliged to sound a clear voice against what is happening in Syria."
In addition, the proposal calls for a discussion of the issue in its strategic aspects: "Continuing the existence of de facto Kurdish autonomy is an Israeli interest. At the geo-strategic level, this is the last land barrier left in the corridor between Tehran and Kuneitra for which Iran has been dreaming for several years."
MK Gideon Sa'ar of the Likud and MK Eli Avidar of Yisrael Beyteinu joined the urgent proposal.
