Palestinian Authority cabinet leader Mohammad Shtayyeh says that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is intereste in holding a general election for parliament and the presidency "with national consensus."
Speaking at the weekly cabinet meeting, Shtayyeh emphasized the importance the PA attaches to conducting elections in all parts of the "homeland", including in Al-Quds (Arabic for Jerusalem, based on the Hebrew word for holy). Shtayyeh said the PA has approached several countries to help it remove the obstacles facing the holding of elections in eastern Jerusalem.
