With the start of the seventh of the month of Marcheshvan on the Jewish calendar, Monday evening, Jews in Israel say words meaning "Bestow dew and rain for a blessing" in the weekday Amidah standing prayer. They will be joined by Jews in the Diaspora in saying these words from the evening of December 4th until the beginning of Passover.
Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel wished on Twitter, "That the coming winter be good for us, be blessed with rains for farmers, for the growth of fields and orchards, for the rise of the Sea of Galilee and the flow of streams," and wished everyone a "Healthy winter!"
