Minister of Internal Security Erdan addressed a letter to the Attorney General and the State Attorney so that they would request a further hearing on the High Court ruling instructing the AG to prosecute the policeman who shot at a young man in Kfar Kana who was killed as a result of the shooting.
In his letter, Minister Erdan noted that the ruling could have far-reaching negative effects that would impair the ability of Israeli police officers to play their role and protect public safety.
Erdan also noted that the ruling could have a harsh result that would constrain police officers in their operational activities and, as a result, damage public peace, and that it is therefore necessary to have a further hearing in the High Court.
