The Chotam Forum attacked the announcement by Gush Dan authorities that they will operate a bus system on Shabbat until the end of 2019.
"The decision by these mayors to harm Shabbat in their city is part of a larger campaign against the Jewish identity of the State, indicating that the Mayor of Tel Aviv is establishing a state within a state and trying to undermine the foundations of the Jewish State.
"This represents a dangerous trend to erased every trace of Judaism and create double injury on Shabbat: Beyond its being a Holy Day, this is also serious injury to bus operators, who have to give up their only rest day during the week with their family. All this only because of a small handful of people trying to foment wars in Israeli society while most of the Israeli public isn't interested in violating tradition and Sabbath."
