The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency have elected Argentinian delegate Rafael Grossi to become the next head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog, succeeding Yukiya Amano, who passed away in July.
Grossi edged Romanian diplomat Cornel Feruta, who has served as the agency's acting director-general since Amano’s death. His appointment is expected to be confirmed at the agency's general convention.
