Member of Knesset Alex Kushnir (Yisrael Beytenu) has responded to the demands of haredi-religious parties to prohibit public on Shabbat via legislation by saying, "The delusional demand by [haredi party leaders Aryeh] Deri and [Yaakov] Litzman from the head of the haredi-messianic bloc to halt public transportation on Shabbat via legislation is yet another proof out of many of their intention to make the State of Israel a halakhic [Jewish law -ed.] state.
Writing on Facebook, Kushnir added, "We in Yisrael Beytenu raise the banner of live-and-let-live, so we will stand as an iron wall against attempts to intervene in the lives of citizens and avoid religious coercion."
