An Ashdod resident was arrested during the Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah holiday after breaking into a home in the city through a professional locksmith whom he ordered, claiming he "lost his house keys".
After it became clear that he was trying to break into a house other than his own, police forces were called in and arrested him. They found additional items suspected of being stolen. At the time of his arrest, the suspect apparently swallowed something he possessed, presumably to hide evidence. During his interrogation, the suspect said that it was his friend's house and that he had lost the keys he had. The court extended his detention during the holiday and he was subsequently released to house arrest.
