Teva Pharmaceuticals, which started in Israel, has announced a settlement to resolve allegations against the company for its role in helping to fuel the painkiller crisis in the United States. Under the deal, the company has agreed to donate $23 billion in opioid addiction treatment drugs and pay $250 million over 10 years. The company said there is an agreement in principle with a group of attorneys general from North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and other defendants. Bloomberg reports 2,500 other localities have not responded to the offer.
Teva has reached a settlement in a lawsuit by two Ohio counties that will see the company provide $25 million worth of drugs to treat addiction to painkillers and pay $20 million in cash over three years. Three other companies were involved.
