Improper storage of tuna blamed for food poisoning at Aroma

The Health Ministry said, Thursday, that preliminary lab results indicate that the source of food poisoning at a branch of the Aroma cafe chain in Tel Aviv is probably improper storage of tuna in two-kilogram containers.

Tel Aviv District Physician Rivka Sheffer said, "We are of course continuing to test, perform additional laboratory tests and also check all reported morbidity events and conduct epidemiological investigations to see what the cause of the morbidity is in these cases as well." Dr. Sheffer added, "It is very important for me to emphasize the need for restaurant owners to heed the manufacturer's instructions and procedures of the Ministry of Health when using tuna as well as all other food products."
